ADS Group is an aerospace, defence and space industry organisation supporting business across these key sectors of UK manufacturing. Recently they held a members only event to discuss Through Life Service of aircraft, with key industry members presenting, the key discussion being presented by Ontic.

Ontic offers a unique business model focused on sustainment of legacy aircraft and systems and Phill Mason was asked to deliver a case study focused on through life sustainment.

Due to the high volume of supported product lines, Ontic could not sustain such challenging products without the support of expert suppliers and outsource companies. Each selected for the specific sector or technology expertise they can deploy, in order to support ongoing manufacturing and repair of aircraft systems on legacy platforms from Boeing 757, to AV-8B or the Airbus A320 through to the B-52.

The case study selected for this event was the sustainment of the Eurofighter fuel gauging system. A product line acquired from GE more than a decade ago and supplied from the Ontic Bishops Cleeve facility.

The product is particularly challenging due to the age and type of technology used but also because the incumbent OEM suppliers no longer wanted to support their elements of the production cycle. Therefore this presentation focused on the work transfer to fellow Made In member Kingfield Electronics, presented by Nick Taylor, Chairman of Kingfield Electronics.

Ontic, with the support of Kingfield and other specialist suppliers deliver solutions for OEM's and Primes through the investment in and sustainment of legacy aircraft systems.

Ontic is always look for specialist service providers, such as Kingfield or Spherea. We are also actively investing in licensing and acquisition of manufacturing and repair IP along with company M&A opportunities.
